From the Pastor's pen
Scripture says that "If my people. . .shall humble themselves and
pray. . .I will forgive their sin and, will heal their land." Words of
assurance and confidence that our God will listen to the petitions of his
people and respond appropriately. Can there be any doubt that our country and
communities are in desperate need of a God-breathed healing from heaven? None
of us can stand in His presence and say that we are not in need of a divine
touch of the master's hand. That is precisely the reason we have set aside the
Sunday nights in July (except for VBS) for cottage prayer
services. I cannot begin to tell you how much these prayer services have
meant to me over the past few years. I encourage you to set aside this time
each Sunday night (6:00 pm) to gather with people of kindred mind and enter
into the presence of God on our knees.
I have chosen to use this forum
to announce our guest speaker for homecoming and revival. He is no
stranger in that he has supplied in my absence at an earlier date. I am pleased
to inform you that Rev. Charles Berry of Ridge Spring will share with us
the messages that God has placed upon his heart for our time together. His
experiences cover a variety of areas including coaching, teaching, and serving
in the Army Reserve. Remember him in your prayers that God will guide him as he
prepares to come and share with us.
Church Council has placed a special
day on our September calendar that should excite and motivate us as we seek to
do the work of the Lord at Old Lexington. On September 20th we will have
"Friend Day" and encourage you to think of someone you would like to
invite to our service that morning. It will provide you with an opportunity to
introduce us to your friend. I would think that everyone has someone they can
invite to the service that morning. After the worship experience we will join
together in a meal to allow us time to greet and get to know each other. I look
forward to this special day.
Sunday Morning Prayer Time Please join
us each Sunday morning through the summer, as we meet in the Sanctuary at 9:00
am for a brief time of prayer. God loves knee-mail.
