From the Pastor's pen
When we turn our calendar to November, the most likely focus in on
Thanksgiving. We revel in that special time when family and friends come
together to reflect on the magnitude of blessings we have received. We are a
most blessed people and should never take for granted what our Lord does for us
on a regular basis.
May I take a moment to reflect upon some other
special services that will be taking place this November? First, on the Sunday
prior to Veteran's Day we will have a service to honor and remember those who
have gallantly and bravely defended the freedoms we enjoy and often take for
granted. There will be a lunch following the service and all are encouraged to
attend this special focus.
The third Sunday, November 15th, our mission
team will present a report on their trip to Lynch, Kentucky. Early reports from
those who were a part of the team are both inspiring and challenging. They will
have pictures and speakers at the morning service.
On November 22nd we
will gather as a community to worship God and give thanks for how graciously we
have been blessed. This is a special time for our community and I would
encourage all of our people to join in this service. Our host this year will be
St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.
The fifth Sunday is the beginning
of Advent which is a time of preparing for the coming of the Christ child. That
evening we will have a Hanging of the Green service and then a time of
fellowship.
You can easily see that November will be a very busy time
affording many different opportunities of worship. Make plans to avail yourself
to every one of these special services. I know the Lord will bless you as you
join with your Family of Faith.
